Welcome to the Davenport, Iowa Barbershop Harmony Society's website. We are a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society and a member of the Central States District . We are a group of men who love to sing and harmonize in the barbershop style while entertaining our audiences and putting smiles on the faces of our fans. Our performing chorus is called The Chordbusters.
The Davenport, Iowa Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) was Chartered in 1952. We are one of over 800 chapters located throughout the United States and Canada. The total BHS membership exceeds 25,000, making the Society the world's largest male singing fraternity. The Society was formed to preserve an original American musical artform known as barbershop harmony. Its motto is: "Keep the Whole World Singing".
The Chordbuster Chorus and its Chapter quartets regularly entertain a wide variety of audiences. Perhaps you have heard us singing the National Anthem at local baseball games, caroling at our annual Christmas show and local nursing/retirement homes, delivering singing valentines to lovers of all ages, or in concert at our annual Spring show called "Holiday in Harmony." We have also had the honor of performing for the Governor of Iowa, President Ronald Reagan and have shared the stage with the Quad City Symphony.
The Chordbusters proudly support several charitable causes: Davenport Family 'Y' programs for children, The Harmony Foundation, local school vocal music programs and Quad City food pantries.
We cordially invite all men and boys who enjoy singing to come sing with us. We are always looking for enthusiastic male voices to harmonize with on Thursday evenings at the Davenport Family Y, 606 W 2nd, from 6:45 - 9:30 PM. Even if you know nothing about barbershop music, you can sing on your very first night visiting us.
Please browse through our website and see if maybe this wonderful hobby of singing is for you. If you would like to be kept informed of Chordbuster activities, click here to sign up for emails of future events.
